Obituary of William John Gleason
William John "Bill" Gleason, 79, of Manalapan, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, October 23, 2019. William was a resident of Manalapan for 47 years.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Mabel Gleason. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Joan Gleason; son William F. Gleason; son Robert Gleason and his wife Mary Ellen Gleason; sister Diane Gleason; grandchildren Logan, Luke,and Katelyn.
Bill was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1940. He was a graduate of Most Holy Trinity High School and St. Francis College, Brooklyn, New York. He honorably served in the United States Marine Corps from 1961-1967. He later became a science teacher for the New York City Board of Education for 28 years before retiring in 1994. After retirement, he spent much of his time volunteering for various organizations. He was also a frequent spectator at many sporting events for Christian Brothers Academy.
In his later years, his grandchildren were the center of his life. He rejoiced in them. He always took an interest in, and reveled in every aspect of their lives. They, too, cherished their Grandpa.
Family and friends are invited to visit Sunday, October 27th from 2:00-6:00PM at Freeman Manalapan - Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North. A funeral liturgy will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Manalapan on Monday October 28th, 2019 at 10:00am.
