Charles J. Potochar, 71, of Freehold Borough, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2014. Born in Windber, PA, he resided in Freehold most of his life. After retiring in 1999 from Schweitzer Paper Co. in Spotswood, he became a bus driver for Freehold Regional High School District. Charles was very active in the community and was a parishioner at St. Rose of Lima Church, a 41-year member of Freehold Engine Co. #2 , captain of the Fire Police, and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1672. He was predeceased by his brother, Houston. Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Elizabeth Potochar; his five children and their spouses, Richard Potochar of Monroe, Dawn DeGrande of Freehold, Kimberley and Felix Perez of Texas, Wayne and Donna Potochar of Freehold, and Ronald and Damon Strothers Potochar of Freehold; five brothers, Frank, Edward, Stanley, Steve, and Michael Potochar; a sister, Julie Skala; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, September 4, from 4 to 8 PM, at Freeman Funeral Home, 47 East Main Street, Freehold. Fire department services will be held during visitation at 7 PM. A funeral Liturgy will be held at St. Rose of Lima Church on Friday at 10 AM.
