Obituary of Anthony Joseph Tacopino

On Monday, September 9, 2019, Anthony J. Tacopino, loving husband, father and brother, passed away at the age of 71.  

Tony was born on April 25,1948 in Bay Ridge Brooklyn to Cosimo and Theresa (Colasuonno) Tacopino.  He graduated from Fort Hamilton High School in Brooklyn, NY.  He worked in the banking industry for over 40 years, retiring in March 2014 as a Vice President.  On September 19, 1970, he married his wife Cherie Smith.  They raised two children, Tammy and Anthony, as well as Cherie's sister Candie Smith. They moved from Brooklyn NY to Staten Island NY in 1974 and then resided in Manalapan, NJ in 2005.   

Tony was very passionate about spending as much time as he could with his family and friends, always looking to bring everyone together at his home.  Everyone always looked forward to his annual Christmas Eve extravaganza.  He was known to bring home the largest Christmas tree he could find.  He was an avid Yankee fan and a model train enthusiast.  Tony loved woodworking, carpentry and had a huge passion for classic cars.  

Tony was preceded in death by his father, Cosimo, mother, Theresa and his niece Stephanie Tacopino Amore.  He is survived by his loving wife Cherie, his two children Tammy (Nicholas) Borrillo and Anthony (Milana) Tacopino, step granddaughter Mariam and grand pup Franklin, brothers Cosimo (Erma) Tacopino, John (Aileen) Tacopino, Charlie (Patricia) Tacopino, sister Theresa (Steven) Shaw and several cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family.
