Joseph R. Asciutto, 94, of Marlboro, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 in Bayshore Medical Center, Holmdel.  Born in Manhattan, he lived in the Sunnyside section of Staten Island for 49 years before moving to Marlboro 12 years ago.  He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II.

Joseph was predeceased by his parents, Rosario and Jenny.  He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Lillian; his sons, Joseph Jr, Christopher, Michael, and Thomas Asciutto; and his daughter, Jean Mirandi.  He and his wife were also blessed with 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Joseph spent most of his career working for New York City in various capacities including WNYC, City Planning and managing City Surplus. He was a man of many talents including artist, sculptor and mechanic, but his most admired gift was that of storyteller.  He could hold people’s attention for hours telling stories while weaving in nicknames, facial and physical expressions. He has left his large family with many fond memories of his love, talents and stories that will live on.
