I was saddened to hear of Dube’s passing.
I met her when I was a very young man. I am not so young anymore, but there are some very important life lessons that I learned from my Jewish Mother Friend. Dube made me Kugel every birthday when we worked together at Cenlar.
I still have this little blue pillow that she gave me when I left Cenlar with “Oy Vey” on it. She taught me that “Beshert” was the Jewish tenet for destiny. This was her way of causing me to slow my mind when things were unclear.
Dube also taught me the meeting of Sitting Shiva as it relates to the mourning of someone of the Jewish Faith. My favorite component of The Shiva was the preparation – and then the eating – of sweet treats. Dube explained to me that death is always enveloped in bitterness. The best way to begin the healing process is with a decadent dessert!
So tonight – diet be damned!

I am very sorry to hear about Dube's passing. I worked with her for years and she is remembered fondly by many. She had such a spunky and cheerful personality! The love she had for her family was evident in the stories she shared and the many pictures that graced her desk. May your memories of her strengthen as time passes until you are reunited with her once again in the heavenly kingdom.
