I was blessed to be Hope's niece on my dad's side of the family. We always enjoyed visiting the Travis home in NJ for summer vacations. There was always good food to enjoy, lively conversation and fun trips into NYC. Hope was the ultimate host, always making sure we were comfortable and having a good time. Her gracious manner and sweet generosity were an inspiration to me throughout my life. She will be forever remembered as my special Aunt Hope.
The first Somerby to leave England was Anthony Somerby who was one of the original settlers of Newbury Massachusetts, USA. Anthony was my 9th generation grandfather. I wish your aunt and my distant cousin eternal peace.

I never knew I had other Somerby cousins until I started researching my family since my father said it was impossible.
I was lucky enough to have the Travis’s lives next door to us when I was a kid. We have so many great memories like Mr. Travis built us a zip line, we used to go sledding down the big hill( thanks Amey ) she was lookout person to make sure no cars were coming, walking to the Y in the summer and many many more memories and laughter.
