Obituary of Roy Edward Gustavson
April 5, 1-939 - September 16, 2018
After battling pancreatic cancer for almost a year, Gus passed away on September 16 at home in
Manalapan, NJ, surrounded by his family.
Gus is survived by his wife of over 51 years, Marie; son Scott and his wife Stephanie of Chesapeake, VA;
daughter Melanie and her husband Shawn of Rumson, NJ; Five Grandchildren: Sydney, Morgan, Ashley,
Erika and Spencer. He was a NY Rangers fanatic, a season ticket holder since 19G8. He was a graduate
of Farleigh Dickenson University with a BS in Electrical Engineering. He was employed by the NJDOTT,
Electrical Bureau, inr Trenton NJ for 40 years. Gus loved to ski and in his younger days, play tennis. He
was a huge baseball fan, and well before Google and Siri existed, Gus was a walking encyclopedia qf
baseball history ancl facts. He was a volunteer Manager at Manalapan Little League for over 30 years;
by hand he wrote a weekly newsletter called the "Cardinals Magazine" with players stats, and included
game summaries called "Redbird Chirps". He was pre-deceased by his parents, Ragnhild and Johrr.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lustgarten Foundation for pancreatic
cancer research, at lustgarten.org.
