Obituary of Stephen Petrovcin

Please share a memory of Stephen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Stephen Thomas Petrovcin, 83, of St. Petersburg, Florida passed away peacefully on September 7, 2018 at The Manor Health and Rehabilitation Center in Freehold, NJ.  Born in Binghamton, NY on July 13, 1935 to the late Steven and Mary Petrovcin.

Steve served 20 proud years as a Technical Sergeant in the United States Air Force between 1953 and 1972.  During his service he was stationed around the world including England, South Korea, Belgium, California, Texas, Maine, and Maryland.  Steve met his beloved wife Jean while stationed in Loring Air Force base in Maine.  They married on June 15, 1963.

After retiring from the Air Force in 1972, Steve moved back to his hometown in Johnson City, NY to raise his family. Steve was a passionate sports fan who could often be seen cheering on the Johnson City Wildcats High School baseball, football, and basketball teams.  He was very active in his church, Blessed Sacrament, and served as a 4th degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus.  Steve took his military experience and applied it to a wonderful career at Singer-Link in Kirkwood, NY where he worked on the F16, B52 and the Stealth Bomber.

After retiring from Singer-Link in 1990 he bought a home in St. Petersburg Florida.   Steve and Jean became snow birds and eventually moved to the Village Green Community full-time.  Steve loved the warm weather and made lasting friendships during his time there.

Steve is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Jean, his daughter Anne-Marie Neumann and her husband John of Freehold, NJ, his son Stephen Petrovcin and his wife Heather of Windham, NH; and his 4 cherished grandchildren Stephanie, Ryan, Skylar and Kiley.

Family and friends are invited to gather at St. Mary’s Church, 1 Phalanx Rd, Colts Neck, NJ 07722 on October 13, 2018.  They will receive family and friends beginning at 10:00am.   The funeral Mass will begin at 11:00am.  A reception will be held immediately after the service at the Neumann’s home.

Please no flowers.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association https://www.heart.org/.
