Very saddened to hear of Gordie's passing. My story is of a summertime encounter when my sister Margaret and brother Christian and myself vacationed at Round Lake and we met Gordie & Marilyn. We were smitten by these kind, fun loving and generous siblings - we were pals and their friendship meant a lot to us! and over the years we would reflect back fondly on that colourful summer (well, actually it was 2 wks but seemed an eternity of fun to a 8 yr old child!) and I felt important that "I have friends in Lachute!!" as we lived 'far away' south of Mtl near the U.S. border. And ya, I possibly had a little crush on this good looking 'older boy' of maybe 13.
Today we are passing through Lachute and I decided to look up Gordie. The lovely messages people have left in Gordie's honour are a testament to my early impression of a wonderful person. May you rest in peace, dear friend of a beautiful summer.

my sincerest condolences to the Labrosse family. It has saddened me so to hear of Gordie's passing. A friend from a long time ago, he was such a kind man, one day we were in his area Morin Heights and gosh we were tired and hungry, he had no qualms about bringing us to his mom's house and there we were fed steak and milk right from the cow, so welcoming and hospitable was his family, even though we were young and had a few . I will always remember that and the many years we worked together at chabanel with so many good memories. I am so sorry for your loss. Glenys

We are so saddened by the loss of Gordie. He was such a loving and generous man. We will miss his vivacious personality and will keep our memories of him close. What special times we enjoyed at his "Canada Day/Fourth of July" parties where is was always such a gracious host. Gordie was such a good friend to us and our children. Farewell Gordie,we miss you.
