Obituary of Antonio Pimpao Merces

Antonio Pimpao Merces, 74, of Marlboro, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2014, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold. Born in Fornos De Algodres, Portugal, he lived in Elizabeth for ten years then moved to Linden where he lived for 30 years. He has resided in Marlboro for the past 16 years. He was a communicant of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, Marlboro. Antonio was a spot welder for General Motors in Linden for 38 years before retiring in 1997. He is survived by his loving wife, Eugenia; three children and their spouses, Joe and Linda of Middletown, Lucia and Tony Da Cunha of Marlboro,and Arthur of Virginia; a sister, Micki Malone; and four grandchildren, Danielle and Victoria Da Cunha and Matthew and Kate Merces. Family and friends are invited to visit Wednesday, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, at Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 AM, at St. Gabriel's Historic Church, Marlboro. Entombment will follow at Holmdel Mausoleum, Holmdel.
