Obituary of Anthony Joseph Merendino

Anthony J. Merendino, 82, of Colts Neck, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2014, at The Manor, Freehold. Born and raised in Brooklyn, he lived in Staten Island and then Monroe Township before moving to Colts Neck. He was a Korean War Army veteran and then became a NYPD Mounted Police Officer in Manhattan for over 25 years. He was predeceased by his wife, Jacquelyn, in 2004. He is survived by his seven children and their spouses, Teresa Colletti, Tony and Julie, Debbi and Pat Rogan, Ricci and Lori, Christi and Frank Sorgente, Jodi and Freddy Bencivenga, and Lori and John Malaspina; 19 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, Feb. 24th, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM, at Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 AM at St. Clement Church, Matawan. Entombment will follow at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens, Woodbridge.
