Obituary of Irving Nerod

Please share a memory of Irving to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Irving Nerod passed in his sleep on Saturday, February 8th. Born on February 13, 1924 in Newark, New Jersey, Irving achieved professional success as a self-taught mechanical engineer. He began a 54 year career as a "blue print boy" with American Can Company rising to General Manager, retiring for the first time at the age of 55. One week later he was back at work as the owner of In-Design, he would design production machinery in both the U.S. and Europe retiring for the final time at the age of 72. When he wasn't seen sketching the next project, he enjoyed woodworking and playing his electric organ. A man who believed success was meaningless without family, he leaves behind a legacy of warmth, compassion, integrity and generosity. He was a kind, caring gentle man with an uncanny sense of humor and story worth waiting for. Having married the love of his life, Ethel DeSacia, at the age of 19 they built a three generation family. He was predeceased by his wife in 2006 and his sister Betty Morick. Irving is survived by his loving daughters, Linda Jandoli, Jill Nerod and dedicated son-in-law, Wally Jandoli; his brother, Gilbert Nerod; three grandchildren, Gregory Jandoli and his wife Danijela, Nicole Caggiano and her husband Buster, Jarryd Knouse and the third generation of 6 great grandchildren, Sean, Dominick, Gregory, Michael, Melody and Sofia. Cherished in life as in memory a loving friend, father, grandfather and great-grandfather; may the music always be with you in your journey.
