Dr Selwyn E. C. Arnold went to rest peacefully on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Centrastate Medical Center, Freehold. Selwyn Edmund Cuthbert Arnold Sr. was born May 29 1934 in Scarborough Tobago. He was the last child of a family of eleven children. Bishop Arnold was an ordained Bishop and served the Church of God faithfully in the following capacities: Pastor, Port of Spain, Trinidad from 1955 to 1958 Youth and C.E. Director of England and Wales from 1960-1966 National Secretary/Treasurer of England and Wales from 1962-1966 Founder of NTCGBS later known as Ebenezer Bible Institute (EBI) in 1963 Founder and President of Ghana Bible Institute from 1966-1974 Administrative Bishop of Ghana, West Africa 1966-1974 Principle of the Nigeria Theological Seminary 1976-1983 Administrative Bishop of Nigeria, West Africa from 1976-1984 President of Overstone College (England) from 1984-1994 Administrative Bishop of England and Wales from 1984-1994 State Administrative Bishop of New Jersey from 1998-2006 Missions Special Assignment Field Representative from 2006-2008 During his time in West Africa he and his wife Muriel organized 31 churches,built 12 church buildings, built medical centers and the Ghana Bible Institute where many students were trained to become pastors, teachers, Church planters and missionaries. Dr. Arnold devoted his time and focus on Missions. Both he and his wife continued to aid the work of ministry in different parts of Africa and continue to raise awareness in the Church of the urgency of building the Kingdom of God in anticipation of Christ's return. Selwyn was a loving, kind father, a God-fearing anointed leader, a good husband and friend, a prayer warrior, a champion for Africa, a visionary stalwart, a fighter for the right, a beacon of light and a trailblazer for many to come. He will be greatly missed by his loving, caring wife Muriel Joyce, son and wife Selwyn Jr. and Michelle Arnold, brothers, Calvert and Tutil, sister, Enola,several nieces and nephews and other relatives and all the lives he has touched around the world in three continents. A memorial service will be held on November 15 at 5:00PM and a funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 16 at 9:00AM at New Hope Church of God in Trenton. Arrangements are under the direction of the Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan.
