Obituary of Joan Dorothy Paviluk
Please share a memory of Joan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joan Dorothy Paviluk, 79, died peacefully on October 30, 2013 with her loving family by her side. She lived for many years in Colts Neck before retiring to Brick Township. Joan was also a former owner and operator of Plaza Liquors and Manasquan Liquors.
She was predeceased by her husband, John in 1980. They met while both working for Tidewater Oil Company in Manhattan. They later spent time and raised their family in many different states while her husband advanced his career with Standard Oil of California.
Some of her happiest afternoons were spent playing Mah Jongg with her best friends, Sue, Marty and Carolyn - a tradition the foursome carried on for several decades. She was a diehard Yankee fan. If she was not watching the Bronx Bombers on television, she had a book in her hand, and often read several books a week. She was also an avid needle-pointer, documenting many family milestones.
Joan is survived by her three sons, John F. and his wife Patricia of Farmingdale, Mark of Red Bank, and Douglas and his wife Susan of Point Pleasant; her three adored grandchildren, John J., Jessica and her husband, Alex, and Christopher; brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Josephine Busch of Las Vegas, NV; sister, Bertille Barker of LI, NY; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, Nov. 4th, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at Freeman Funeral Home, 47 East Main Street, Freehold. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
