When I relocated to California from Cape Cod, I felt kind of lost. I didn't know anybody who shared my love of photography. Then I discovered Webaperture.com ( a photography site) and found all kinds of folks who were photographers to share my work with. Some of them I actually got to meet in person and go out taking pictures. Bob was one of those people.
He knew I was homesick for Cape Cod, and he organized a photo outing to Cape Cod and sent me a plane ticket so I could lead the expedition! I got to meet several other members of Webaperture and had a great time showing them around the Cape. I came back to NJ with Bob and his son Alex and stayed with his family for a couple of days to take pictures in NYC before heading back to California.
Thanks to his generosity I got to see my old friends and meet new ones... A few years later I met up with him in Las Vegas to spend the day shooting and had a fun time. I always enjoyed his company, he was a fun guy!
Bob had a big heart and helped folks in need and always had good advice when it came to computers or cameras. He actually was the one who got me to switch from film shooting to digital by lending me a camera during our Cape Cod trip. He was a good friend and I will never forget him.

The members of the Manhattan Miniature Camera Club are profoundly sorry for the loss of Bob, our wonderful, spirited, new member, and send our deepest sympathy to his family. Bob joined us just a year ago, and right from the start, he impressed all of us with his photographic expertise, his enthusiasm and his willingness to jump right in to our club’s various activities. Bob was quickly invited to join the MMCC Board of Directors and became our new Chairman of the Field Trip Committee. He arranged several very enjoyable outings, one of them in May on a boat in the Meadowlands (see photos) to photograph birds followed by dinner, and was always full of ideas as to where to go next. We will miss Bob tremendously. In honor of Bob’s short but inspiring contribution to our club, we are planning to honor him by establishing a new annual end of the year prize in his name called “The Bob Jagendorf Award for Innovative Photography.” From the words of Henry Scott Holland (1847-1918), Canon of St. Paul's Cathedral: Play, smile, think of me, pray for me, let my name be spoken without effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight. I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well.

I am terribly saddened by Bob's passing. He was a mentor, a friend, a confidant, a wonderful and generous boss and a great human being. I will always cherish memories of going on sales calls together, visiting with Linda & Bob and the kids when I lived in California, watching the 2000 world series between the Mets and Yankees with him at his home in Manalapan, going on his boat when he lived in Freeport, Long Island and so many other wonderful times. He taught me a lot about life and business and I will carry his memory with me always.

I've known Bob through business since 1989. He was always a technical challenge for me as we always worked on projects that would test our intellect. Bob was a great guy and was highly respected by everyone he worked with. My heartfelt sympathies to his family. He will truly be missed.

I am greatly saddened to hear this news. Bob joined my camera club last year, where he quickly became a loved and valued member who was generous with his expertise and enthusiasm and contributed wonderful photos to our competitions. He immediately became the chair of our Outing Committee and shared many ideas for photography trips. I last spent time with him in Coney Island in August where he shared his experience shooting the fireworks with the group. Although I only knew him a short time, his enthusiasm, involvement and generous heart will be sorely missed. Heartfelt condolences to his family.
