Obituary of Elder Lawyer Floyd

Elder Lawyer Floyd, 94, of Millstone Township, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 2, 2013. He was a temporary resident at the Geraldine Thompson Medical Division Home, Wall Township. He was an active member of the community over the past 60 years and was an Elder of the New Beginnings Agape Christian Center in Freehold (formerly known as the Second Baptist Church) for over 60 years. He also held many positions and offices within his church and throughout the community. He was a lifetime member of both the Masonic and Laborers International Union of North America. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Velma in 1999, a son, Jesse Fitzpatrick Saunders in 1992; and granddaughter, Gwendolyn Fitzpatrick in 2005. He is survived by two daughters, Barbara J. (Freddie L.) Hamilton of Millstone Twp. and Ruthie M. ("Buck" Wilbur) Cooper of Como, NC; a godson, Jeremiah "Mr. J." (Ladena) Warren of Neptune; daughter-in-law, Orphenia Fitzpatrick of Manalapan; six grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; and a host of cousins and friends. Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, August 7th, from 4 to 8 PM, at Freeman Funeral Home, 47 East Main Street, Freehold. Visitation will continue on Thursday, August 8th, from 10 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM, at New Beginnings Agape Christian Center, Freehold.
