Obituary of Vincent A. Ali

Please share a memory of Vincent to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Vincent A. Ali, 79, of Old Bridge, passed away on June 30, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with leukemia. He was born in Calabria, Italy, on April 24, 1934. He resided in Manalapan for 30 years before moving to Old Bridge six years ago. He came to this country in 1958 and went to work in the construction industry. Vincent eventually opened up his own company in 1978 and had a successful family business for 25 years, retiring in 2004. He was a proud member of the Excavators Union Local #731 for 50 years. Throughout his life, Vincent loved playing the harness horses and was an owner for over 40 years. He had many friends throughout the harness industry especially at his favorite track, Freehold Raceway, where you could find him with his track buddies. He also enjoyed playing cards with his friends in NY and NJ. Vincent and Esther spent the winter months in Florida enjoying the sun and beach. He was loved by all who knew him. He lived well and will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends who will remember his kindness, generous spirit and contagious smile. Those smiles were most evident with his beautiful grandchildren whom he adored and spend his happiest hours. Vincent is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Esther, who took great care of him during his illness as well as throughout his life; his three sons and daughters-in-law, Dominick and Maria of Manalapan, Vincent Jr. and Bernadette of Old Westbury, NY and Joseph and Maria of Manalapan; 10 grandchildren, Tanya, D.J., Ariella, Alissa, Brianna, Vincent III, Victoria, Paul, Marco and Luca; four brothers, Domenico, Rocco, Nicola and Orlando; and three sisters, Maria, Josephine and Clementina. Family and friends are invited to visit Tuesday, July 2nd, from 2:00 to 10:00 PM at the Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan. A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Wednesday, July 3rd, at 10:00 AM, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Manalapan. Entombment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold.
