Obituary of Eleanore M Judd

Eleanore M. Judd, of Shrewsbury, died on Thursday, April 11, 2013, at St. Barnabas Hospice in Long Branch. Born in Schenectady, NY, she lived in Boston before moving to Shrewsbury. Lady Eleanore served her country as First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict serving in the Medical Corp. of the 351st General Hospital. She was a member of Christ Church in Shrewsbury.
Mrs. Judd attended the College of St. Rose and earned her master's degree in psychiatric social work at Simmons College and then undertook course work at Boston College, Harvard Medical School, and Southard Clinic. She was an active member of Catholic Charities, Worchester Youth Guidance Center, and the Children's Psychiatric Center, Eatontown and held faculty positions at Boston College, Rutgers University, NY University and Hunter College. She also maintained a private practice in child psychotherapy.
Eleanore served on many professional and volunteer boards, including the Arthur Brisbane Child Treatment Center board for nearly a decade. She has been a benefactor to numerous historical, cultural and creative arts organizations including the Museum of Creative Graphics. She was a founding member of the Monmouth County Urban League, supported the Pacific Encore Performance Opera Co., Shrewsbury Historical Society, Monmouth County Historical Society, Museum, Conservation and SPCA Groups, Friends of Princeton University Library, St. Botolphs Club of Boston, both the Harvard and Cornell Clubs in NY, and the English Speaking Union.
Eleanore was predeceased by her first husband, Dr. Bradford Judd and her brother, Ronald Gridley. She is survived by her husband, Michael Lynn; his children, Michael and Sean (Kimberly), and their children, Cameron and Sean; her brother, Munroe Gridley; her sister-in-law, Mary Gridley; her niece, Laurel (Scott); and her nephew, David.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, April 15th, from 4 to 8 PM, at Christ Church, Shrewsbury. Her funeral service will be at Christ Church on Tuesday, April 16th, at 10 AM. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Shrewsbury First Aid, 115 Haddon Avenue, Shrewsbury, NJ 07702 or Shrewsbury Fire Department, P.O. Box 7239, Shrewsbury, NJ 07702. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold.
