Obituary of Nicholaos Zaharias Papadakis

Nikolaos Zaharias Papadakis, 78, of Monroe Township, passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Hania, Crete, Greece, he lived in Brooklyn, NY and then Manalapan before moving to Monroe eight years ago. He was co-owner of McAteers Restaurant, Somerset. Nick was a member and cantor of the Kimisis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church, Holmdel for many years. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Antonia; his two sons and daughter-in-law, Zachary and Patricia Papadakis of Weehawken and Felix Papadakis of Manhattan; his sister, Popi Halkiadakis; three grandchildren, Christopher, Stephen and Luke; and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, Feb. 14th, from 4 to 8 PM at the Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan. Visitation will continue on Friday, Feb. 15th, from 10 AM until the Funeral Mass at 11 AM, at the Kimisis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church, Holmdel.
