Dad and Mom we miss you so much. I know you are watching over us. Dad I can't believe its a year since you left. I still go to call you all the time. Especially when something good is going on. During this year Dad realized another dream to get his High School Diploma. He had left school at age 17 to go to work and help his mom make ends meet. He never gave up hope of getting his diploma and this past summer he received his High School diploma. When the Principal heard about his dream she pulled his records and found he qualified to get his Diploma and not only sent him an official diploma but all his records and his picture which we all got a kick out of. He and we all were so proud of him.

When we got to the Yankee stadium I was pushing my Grandpa in his wheel chair. It was very noisy and hard to hear him. Grandpa kept pointing forward but I couldn't understand what he was saying so I decided to follow his finger. We went for quite a while down the walkway when I finally saw what he was pointing to a sabrett hotdog stand. The first thing we got was our hot dogs.He was a happy man and I was happy to be sharing a hotdog with my Grandpa

At the age of 82, dad was still having his dreams come true, by going to Yankee stadium one more time. With the help of the Howie Rumberg, all the folks at the AP and Yankee stadium staff his dream came true. Not only did he get to go to see the Yankees play the Mets, but he also got a press pass to go up to the press box. His second love. They honored him by saying Welcome back to Herb Bluman Retired AP correspondent and wishing him a Happy 82nd Birthday on the Big Screen. With a smile from ear to ear he waved to the camera the crowd gave him a standing ovation. During the 6th inning the Mets were winning after dads shout out the Yankees turned it around and won the game. What a day. Right up until the day before he passed he spoke of this day, it brought a proud smile to his face and a twinkle in his eye.

Herbert Bluman 82, passed away February 11th 2013 at Morris Hills Center, Morristown, NJ. Herbert or Herb was born in Brooklyn NY. He retired from the Associated Press where he was a tele-type operator. His favorite position was covering the baseball games at the Yankee and Shea stadiums. During WWll he worked for the Stars and Stripes a Military newspaper. Herb was love by all. He was a very kind and gentle man, a beloved husband, father and Grandpa. He had many lifelong friends. At the age of 82 he was still making his dreams come true by going to Yankee stadium one more time and getting his High School Diploma. He left school to help his mom make ends meet. He never gave up hope of getting his diploma. He loved to cook, use his computer and spend time with family and friends. At the nursing home he helped residents learn how to use the computer and was a member of the resident committee where he fought to get the sports channel and make known other issues residents had.
He is predeceased by the love of his life, wife Sandra Fradkin Bluman, of 58 years in 2009. He is survived by his son Jeffrey Bluman, Son Steve Bluman and wife Marion, daughter Lori McGill and husband Robert, son Wayne Bluman and Grandchildren, Jason, Daniel, Angela and Regina.
