It was only a couple years ago (Thanksgiving of 2010) when I first met Grandma G. We all met up at Bob and Nancy's home for dinner. I have to admit, I was a bit nervous in the beginning; seeing as how I had never met the New Jersey portion of Jacky's family. After a brief conversation with Grandma, and telling her about Jacky and I being engaged, she asked if I was Catholic. I told her I was, and she simply looked at me and said "Ok, you can marry her now." We had a laugh about it, and I was instantly at ease. From that moment on, I felt like I was a part of the family. Watching her and Grandpa G., banter back and forth as couples do, made me very happy. Not only because of the hilarity it created, but because Jacky and I did the same thing. I would say something off-the-wall, Jacky would just tell me to shut up and that I was an idiot. I distinctly remember at one point during dinner, Grandma looking over at her husband and saying "Shut up, Bruno." Jacky and I looked at each other, almost in disbelief of the similarity, and we couldn't help but laugh. I knew then that Jacky and I were following in their footsteps, and I couldn't be happier. We still talk about that moment to this day. It was one of the few times I was able to meet Grandma in-person, and I cherish that memory.
