Obituary of Florence Robbins

Please share a memory of Florence to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Florence "Flo" Strickman-Robbins, 105, of Applewood Estates, Freehold, passed away on July 28, 2018 at Applewood. She was formerly married to Dr. Herbert Strickman, a retired Lt. Col. in the Army Air Corps, who opened a dental practice in Freehold upon his discharge from the Army Air Corps in 1945. They were the parents of three children, Diane, Glenn, and Laurie. In 1956 she married Sam Robbins, electrical contractor of Red Bank, and they built and operated Robbins Electric, a lighting fixture and electric supply business on Route 9 in Freehold. While living in Freehold, she was active in many organizations: president of the Freehold PTA, president of the Jewish War Veterans Ladies Auxiliary, president of the Freehold Chapter of Hadassah (a world renowned women's Zionist organization), member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Congregation Agudath Achim, and a volunteer for the American Cancer Society. After 18 years, she and Sam retired and moved to "Clearbrook", a senior retirement community in Monroe where they resided for the next 20 years; then moving to Applewood Estates, where Sam died two years later. Flo is survived by her three children, Diane Quinton and Glenn Strickman, both of Manhattan, and Laurie & David Brod of Jacksonville, FL; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a host of friends at Applewood. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. May she rest in peace. There will be a service at Freeman Funeral Home, 47 E. Main Street, Freehold on Sunday, July 29 at 11 AM, followed by interment at Freehold Hebrew Benefit Society Cemetery, Freehold.
