Obituary of John S Burgess

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John S. Burgess of Jackson, New Jersey (born in Brooklyn, NY and formerly of Old Bridge, N.J.) was reunited with his beloved wife, MaryLou, when he passed away on July 1, 2018 at Riverview Medical Center while surrounded by his loving family. John also joins his parents, Charles and Marion Burgess, his sister Marion, and his brother, Joseph. John is survived by his and Marylou's three adoring children and their families, who are all blessed and grateful to have had them both: Christine and Justin Walter of Chatham and their children Colton and Cameron; Jennifer and Gerard Acquaviva of Millstone Twp. and their children Bianca, Amanda, Ella, Matthew and Jake; and Michael Burgess and Chrystina Kovatich, and their son, Jackson. John is also survived by his children, John and Laura Burgess of Atlanta, Georgia, and Bonnie and Brian Mould of Bethel, Connecticut, and their children and grandchildren. Also surviving John are Marylou's brother, Ralph Marzo and his wife Marlene, of Manalapan, and his four nieces and his nephew, and their families. A Navy Veteran and retired Sergeant for the Middlesex County Sheriff's Department, John spent his life being the proverbial "good guy." Anyone who knew John, especially his children and grandchildren, knew that there was nothing he wouldn't do to put a smile on their faces or make their lives a little easier. Making others happy was his greatest joy, and his witty humor often left us all laughing long after the joke was told. Far too many other family members, and John's friends from the Elk's of Old Bridge and Middlesex County Sheriff's Department and Courts, hold John close in their hearts and will miss him always. Family and friends are invited to celebrate this amazing man who blessed so many lives on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, Millstone Twp. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in John's name to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or visit stjude.org, or to the ASPCA or visit ASPCA.org.
