I knew Mark for the past few years. You could not have asked for a more helpful and wealth of information. My deepest sympathy for his families loss. I know where ever Mark is now the knowledge level was greatly increased from his presence.

Dear Cathy, Christina, children and I were shocked to hear the passing of Mark. I knew Mark as a colleague for many years at Bell Labs/AT&T and as a family friend. Mark was a good example of a man who lived by the American Work Ethic. He worked hard striving for perfection, helped others and told the truth regardless of consequences. We as a family remember the good time we spent together at each other home. Cathy, Laura and Michael please accept our deepest sympathy for the loss of a good man, your partner and father. Sincerely, Dan, Christina, Joseph, John, Julius

I got to know Mark through coaching basketball with Manalapan Recreation. He was the Commissioner. Always doing his best for the kids. His team beat one of my better teams on a lucky bank shot 3 (the final was roughly 37 to 35) but credit where credit is due: His team held us to 35 points when we had been averaging roughly 60 a game. We may have been gassed though as it was our second game of the night as scheduled by the "Commissioner"! No excuses though. I only recently learned when visiting him in the hospital that Mark played the guitar in a band as was a huge fan of the Rolling Stones. Another lesson learned. Take the time to get to know everyone you meet a little better. Life is too short and too many opportunities may be missed if you do not. Heartfelt condolences to Cathy, Laura and Michael. Mark was one of the good guys. But always remember (the physicist in Mark will appreciate this): Whatever it is that made up Mark in the time we knew him here was part of the universe before he took the shape we knew and remains a part of the universe even now so he is not really gone. Just has taken a different form.

Mark was a great engineer, highly focused on problem solving and never gave up trying to find and develop solutions. He will be missed by everyone on the team at AT&T.
