John P. Gilmore, 78, of Fort Lee, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2017. John was born and raised in Inwood in New York City. He was an Army veteran who served in Europe. John worked at the American Broadcasting Company for over 30 years. He was a volunteer at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital for 12 years and enjoyed visiting with patients. John was a fiercely proud American Irishman who always put the needs of others before his own.
John was predeceased by his brother, Francis Gilmore; his sister Catherine Gilmore; and a sister-in-law, Rita Gilmore. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Dian Gilmore; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Connie Gilmore and Peter and Joan Gilmore; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 8pm on Monday, October 23 at Freeman Manalapan Funeral Home, 344 US Highway 9 North, Manalapan. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered at 10am Tuesday, October 24 at St. Thomas More, 186 Gordons Corner Rd, Manalapan.
