Obituary of Dorothy Tampone
Please share a memory of Dorothy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dorothy Tampone, 93, of Old Bridge, passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2012. Born and raised in NYC, she lived in Yonkers for 40 years before living with her daughter in Islip where she was lovingly cared for. Her son and daughter-in-law then cared for her for four years while she resided at the Reformed Church Home. Dorothy worked in the Bronx County Clerk's office as a senior law clerk retiring in 1985.
Dorothy was loved by all - just as she loved all. Her family was her whole world. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister and aunt. As a child, she summered in Mt. Tremper, NY living in tents. As a grandmother, she still summered there with her many grandchildren as her guests but now in a cabin. The kids would always say they loved being with grandma as she never scolded them. Her three sisters also summered there and it was a great family gathering place where she saw her many nieces and nephews who truly loved their Aunt Dot. Mom, you were a wonderful mother and mother-in-law and we will miss you very much - Maryann, Fran & Rose. All your grandchildren will miss you and never forget you.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Angelo; and sisters, Eleanor and Lillian. She is survived by her children, Francis (Rose) Tampone and Maryann Kelly; a sister, Mary; 9 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren;
3 great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, from 3 to 7 PM, at Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, at 10 AM, at St. Gabriel's Main Church, Marlboro. Interment will follow at St. Raymond Cemetery, Bronx. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Reformed Church Home.
