Obituary of Michael Barton Scanlon

Michael Scanlon, 58, of Freehold passed away at Centra State Medical Center on Tuesday, August 15, 2017. Mike was a lifelong resident of Freehold and was a member of Freehold Fire Department, Engine Company No. 2, and the Knights of Columbus Council #1672; he was also a life member of the East Freehold Fire Company. Before becoming disabled, he worked for Pepsi Bottling Company, Piscataway for 18 years Mr. Scanlon was predeceased by his parents, George, Sr. and Mary Scanlon; and his brother George, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda; his sons and daughters-in-law, William (Brittany) and Thomas (Amanda); his granddaughter, Kenzi Rose; his father in law William Madden; and his brothers and sisters-in-law Glenn (Diane) Madden; Sharon (Ken) McCauley; Maureen (Pete) Petersen; Jan (John) McDonough; Gary (Marge) Madden; and Patricia Scanlon; and many nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to visit on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00PM at Freeman Funeral Home, 47 E. Main St., Freehold. A fireman's funeral service will take place at 7:15, and a Knights of Columbus service will take place at 7:30 at the funeral home. His funeral mass will be on Saturday, August 19 at 10:00 at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold; interment will be private.
