A saying that has always stuck with me was the following: "When you enter this world, you are crying and everyone else is smiling. When you leave this world, everyone else is crying and you are smiling." Sixteen years ago, I entered this world crying and you smiled as you heard the news of your great granddaughter's birth. Through sixteen years I've heard many stories of you and my mother, how my mother loved spending time at the farm, how amazing my mom's pop was. And though we were born into different times, we have many things in common, such as our love of song. I feel so honored and so privileged to have gotten to spend sixteen years of my life knowing a woman who is brave, wise, and strong. On Saturday night, you left us. You leave behind not only a legacy of everything a woman stands for: love, compassion, bravery, but also a family who will keep your memory always. Tears will come and we will grieve, and though we stay on this world crying, I know you are in Heaven smiling down on us. Micah 4:4 says "everyone will sit under their own vine and their own fig tree." I know you're looking down at us, smiling from under your fig tree in the Lord's farm in Heaven.
