Obituary of Wayne Francis Connelly

Wayne F. Connelly, 62, of Jackson Township died on Wednesday, July 10, 2016 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Newark he resided in Tinton Falls prior to moving to Jackson 13 years ago. Prior to his retirement in 2015 he was Senior Golf Ranger with the Monmouth County Park System. He was awarded the Heroism Award in 2012 for saving a life and a Leadership Award in 2014. Prior to that he worked for Bell Labs for 25 years retiring in 2001. He loved his work at Murray Hill Research Center where he specialized in lithography. He was proud to have had the opportunity to work under Arno Penzias (Nobel Prize for the Big Bang Theory). Throughout the years he played guitar and vocals with many bands such as Cockles N Mussels throughout the 70's. He enjoyed duets as Hennessey and Con'ly. Wayne also played solo at Buckingham Mountain Brewery, Peddlers Village, Lahaska, Pa. He was predeceased by his parents John and Theresa Connelly and his brother John Connelly. Wayne is survived by his loving wife Marita of 22 years; his son, Sherriff's Deputy Michael of Whiteford, MD and three siblings, Patricia Connelly and Laura Hinckley of Pocatello, ID, and Thomas Connelly of Keyport, NJ. Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, August 15th from 9:30 to 11:30 am at Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan. A memorial mass will follow at 12 noon at St. Gabriel's Historic Church, Marlboro. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
