Obituary of Anthony Charles Scaggs

Anthony "Tony" Scaggs, 59, of Manalapan passed away on Friday, July 15th, 2016 at Hackensack Medical Center, Hackensack - after a long and courageous battle with multiple myeloma. Born in Brooklyn, NY,Tony lived in Old Bridge until moving to Manalapan in 1981. A graduate of Old Bridge High School, Tony was employed by AT & T as a building mechanic until his retirement in 2015. In addition, Tony owned and operated Pine Brook Electric for 25 years. Tony was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Old Bridge. Tony had a passion for life. He enjoyed music, the beach, traveling, his family and friends, and his goldens. He especially loved spending time riding his motorcycle or driving his corvette with the top down. Tony was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and loyal, caring, generous friend to all that he met. Tony was predeceased by his mother, Barbara (Scatuccio) Scaggs. Surviving are his father William, his wife Beryl the love of his life for 35 years, his daughters Cheryl Maletto and Theresa (Jesus) Lucas, his brothers Bill and Vincent, his sister Barbara Ann(Richard) Mc Cauley, sister in law Bina (Bill) Kane, brother in law Clem (Sandee) Whitman , his grandsons Alex and Max Lucas, many nieces and nephews and his beloved family of golden retrievers. Visitation will be held at the Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 US Highway 9 North, Manalapan on Tuesday, July 19th, 2016 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 6:00 - 9:00 pm. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 333 Route 18 South, Old Bridge on Wednesday, July 20at 10:15 am followed by interment at the Old Tennent Cemetery, 454 Tennent Road, Manalapan NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in the name of Anthony Scaggs may be made to the Hackensack University Medical Center Foundation Multiple Myeloma Fund, 360 Essex Street, Suite 301, Hackensack, NJ 07601.
