Obituary of Margaret Mary Fischer

Margaret Mary Fischer, 88, of Howell Township, died at Bartley Healthcare, Jackson on Sunday, July 3, 2016. Marge was born on June 11, 1928 in Fishkill, NY. She was a direct descendant of Plymouth and Massachusetts Bay Colonies. She was raised in the NY Foundling Hospital until her foster mother took her in at the age of 8. She considered her foster mother Alice Pulsifer to be her lifelong mother and best friend. She was married in 1954 and later moved from Staten Island to Manalapan where she raised 6 sons. Marge was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Thomas More Catholic Church of Manalapan and St. Marks in Maryland. She was an original member of Manalapan Booster Club and St. Thomas More Rosary Society. She worked many years as a baby nurse at first for the NY Foundling Hospital and later for KinderCare and for many young children in Manalapan. She was a CCD teacher for the Diocese of Trenton and Columbiette of the Englishtown Knights of Columbus. She was predeceased by her husband, William E. in 1997 and her daughter Alice Marie in 1962. She is survived by her 6 sons, William J. of Maryland, Robert C. and his wife Susan of Howell, Joseph E. of Manalapan, David A. of East Brunswick, Thomas F. and his wife Ahava of North Carolina and Michael J. and his wife Cathy of North Carolina and four grandchildren, Christiana, Kendrick, Jessica, Nicholas, Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 PM at the Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10 am on Wednesday, at St. Robert Bellarmine Church in Freehold. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, Staten Island, NY. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The New York Foundling, Development Department, 590 Avenue of the Americas, New York, NY 10011.
