Obituary of Leonard W Maglione

Leonard W. Maglione, 73, of Manalapan Township, entered into eternal rest after a long illness surrounded by his loving family. Born in the Bronx, he resided in Somers, NY prior to moving to Manalapan 8 years ago. During his 40-year career with the MTA, Lenny served in many capacities including Industrial Engineering, Passenger Service, Operations Planning and Buildings and Structures. His career culminated with his return to Grand Central Terminal in 1996 where he served until his retirement in 2005 as General Superintendent and oversaw the restoration of the terminal to its historic beauty. He always said the proudest achievement of his career was being included in the children's book, Next Stop Grand Central by Maira Kalman. Leonard was a past Exalted Ruler of BPOE Elks, Mt. Kisco, NY as well as an avid hunter, golfer, car enthusiast and NY Yankees fan Leonard was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Mary Maglione. Leonard is survived by his beloved wife Joyce Maglione of 50 years; three adoring daughters and sons-in-law, Maria Maglione and Shawn Patrick of Latham, NY, Michele Maglione and Kevin Kelly of Brooklyn, NY and Lenora and Stuart Ziegler of Manalapan and four loving grandchildren, Connor and Ryan Patrick and Lydia and Dale Ziegler. Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, June 15th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan. His Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Mercy R. C. Church, Englishtown. Entombment will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery, Hartsdale, NY.
