The first time I met Mario was at a family wedding. He and Helen were sitting at the table with John and me. I wanted to know as much about him as I could because he might "just be the one" for my cousin Helen. Helen left the table for a short time so I began to have my own conversation with Mario. I was curious; he had such an open, friendly manner that I felt OK with beginning the conversation.
After we conversed for about twenty minutes or so, I had a strange sensation that could only be described as love. He, more than anyone else, reminded me of my father. I felt as if I was talking to my daddy. This was the first time that that such a feeling had ever happened to me; you see - my daddy died when I was nine years old. Helen - I don't know if you remember this - but when you came back to the table, I cornered you and said "Helen, I want you to marry Mario". That was quite forward (for me), but I thought that it was the right thing to say. I believe that Mario had a way with him that could make almost anyone feel comfortable. He was kind, generous with his time and devoted to love. What a good man! I know that I, along with countless others, will miss him.
Helen, you were both fortunate to have found each other. Your lives were enriched with lots of wonderful adventures and even at the end, although he was in great pain, he was a big love who needed you; that is good because Love is all that endures. Whatever we accumulate in life is just stuff; love is all that matters and Mario was a wonderful love.
Much love to you Helen,
Ginny

In loving memory of my beloved Uncle Mario. To quote my daughter "Ti voglio bene, zio Mario. Riposi in pace, canti con gli angeli."
