Jane Franklin Sharpe was born February 4, 1918, to Jacob and Elizabeth (Sowers) Sharpe in Knoxville, Tennessee. Jane was the oldest of eight children and grew up on a farm by Powell Station, TN. After losing her parents, she lived and worked in Georgia and New York City to help support her siblings. Jane married Frank A. Trojahn, Sr. on December 11, 1941. They lived in Maine and finally settled in New Jersey where they worked and raised their family. Frank passed away in April 1981. Jan married Al Simmons in October 1984 and he passed away March 1987. Jane had worked since she was eighteen years old. She worked for 45 years at Van's Freehold Inn retiring at 86 years of age. She worked a total of 68 years. Jane moved to Ammon, Idaho in May of 2005 to live with her daughter, Dorita. Jane died at 97 years of age on October 24, 2015 at Fairwinds Sand Creek Retirement Center after a short illness. She is survived by her sister, Emma Leone; her two daughters, Sandra (Gene) Cohen of Wall Township, and Dorita Yadon of Ammon, Idaho; nine grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; two stepsons; two stepdaughters; and several nieces and nephews. Jane was predeceased by both parents, five brothers, a sister, her two husbands, two stepsons, and her only son, Frank A. Trojahn, Jr. Jane was a favorite to all of her family and loved by all who knew her. Visitation will be on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, at the Freeman Funeral Home, 47 East Main Street, Freehold. A graveside funeral service will follow at 11:30 AM at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold.
