My Uncle Vin, in addition to being a devoted husband and father, was a man of many talents and interests, not the least of which was baseball. Growing up in Brooklyn, he, like his mother, was an avid Dodger fan. Yet my father, his little brother, was a serious St. Louis Cardinal fan. In some families this might prove a problem. But not for the brothers, who would "skip" school and go to Ebbets Field when Stan Musial and the Cards were in town. Loving baseball, and understanding that it was and is a game of statistics, my uncle and father developed and designed a baseball board game. They shopped it around to the big game manufacturers - Parker Brothers, Milton Bradley, etc. There was interest in the game; in fact representatives found it intriguing. The issue was the game's complexity - the feeling was that it just wouldn't appeal to enough people. It was after all statistics based. So the Dodgers went on to LA and my uncle and my father went on to different and successful careers. But Uncle Vin never lost his love of baseball - I understand he was watching the Mets play the Dodgers just the other night. I suspect he and my grandmother were watching tonight as their adopted Mets played their estranged Dodgers.

Donna and I extend our prayers and condolences to my beautiful cousins and their families. We will miss Uncle Vinny and his warmth, his humor and wit, his charm and his genuine goodness. We were lucky to call him uncle and I was blessed to call him godfather.

Anybody who knows me well, knows I adored my dad! Of course I did. He was kind, caring, smart, funny, witty, adorable and handsome! He called me LauraAnn most times , no one called me that! I can't even express how much I will miss him, but I know he is happy to be reunited with his bride and his mom and dad in heaven. Daddy, I will miss you so much for a very long time. My heart hurts so much! And as i told you just the other night- you are a Prince!! My prince forever- I love you, Laura. ❤️

If you knew my dad, you would not easily forget his gentle nature, his "punny" sense of humor, his intelligence and his deep Christian faith. People were drawn to his easy-going nature, but if you called during a Mets games, well, he might not be so easy-going! How he managed in a house full of women, I wil never know. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and many warm memories. We know he was welcomed into heaven by our mom, the love of his life. But we will miss him and cherish him forever in our hearts.
