Obituary of Rocco George Gallo

GALLO, ROCCO, a long-time resident of Freehold, New Jersey, who recently relocated to Manalapan, died on September 30 at age 63. His loving family was by his side during his final moments. Rocco is survived by Robin Gallo, his wife of 37 years, his daughter Lindsey (Matt Carpenter), his son Matthew (Ashley Kresky), and his sister Margaret Garry (David). He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, extended family, friends and colleagues, and his beloved cat, Lucy. The beloved son of his late parents Rocco and Teresa, and also predeceased by his late brother Louis, Rocco Gallo was born in Jersey City and raised in Keansburg, NJ. He attended Middletown High School, where he starred in Track & Field and basketball, and he went on to earn his degree at Seton Hall University. Rocco was very proud of his Italian heritage as well as being one of New Jersey's native sons. He was an avid sports fan throughout his life, especially the New York Giants. Rocco also enjoyed cooking and loved a good horse race. But most of all, Rocco loved his family. He often spoke of his greatest achievement in life - the family he raised with his wife Robin. Rocco took great pride in the many accomplishments of his children, Lindsey and Matthew, always watching, cheering, and smiling at them adoringly as their number one fan. Quick to start up a conversation with a stranger, anyone who had the privilege to meet Rocco knew how funny and kind he was. Visitation will be on Friday, October 2, 6-9 PM at Freeman Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan, NJ 07726. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, October 3 at 10:30 AM at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 16 McLean St. Freehold, NJ 07728 with luncheon to follow.
