Obituary of Isaac Wolseley Welcome

Isaac "Ike" Welcome of Freehold Township, passed away on September 4, 2015 after a year's struggle with brain cancer. He leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Ina; their three sons and daughters-in-law, Trent, Vince and Jennifer, and Phil and Ellen; and four grandchildren with a fifth grandchild expected in October. Ike was a former Merchant Marine Engineer and an apprentice carpenter. He was born in East End, Grand Cayman, the second son of Boyd and Ida Welcome. He and Ina immigrated to the United States in 1967 with prospects for a new career. During his 33 committed years at the Old Bridge Municipal Authority, he quickly rose to superintendent and was the recipient of numerous prestigious awards and recognitions from the New Jersey Environmental Water Association as well as the Water Environmental Federation. In 2000, Ike retired to enjoy all that he had worked so hard to attain. A man of great pride, he was an endearing and loving father and grandfather, a dedicated husband, and a loyal friend. We will always carry him in our hearts.
