Obituary of Edward Jacob James Barth

Edward J. Barth, 97, of Howell, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Fountain View Care Center, Lakewood. Born in Warsaw, Illinois he lived in Baltimore before moving to Howell where he has resided for over 60 years. He owned and operated the Penny Sales Co., Howell until retiring. Ed was a proud WWII Army veteran and member of the American Legion Post 54, Freehold. He was a communicant of St. Veronica's Catholic Church, Howell and a former Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 1672, Freehold. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Eve; four children and their spouses, Alan and Gay Nell Barth, Nadine and Gary Sheldon, Bernadette and Bob Goldzman, and Clarissa and Chris Kallander; his sibling, Anne Marie Barth; five grandchildren, Matthew and Stephanie Goldzman, Jason Reist, Angela Greene and Lance Ian Gastelbondo; and great granddaughter, Miriam Greene. Friends and family are invited to visit on Friday, Sept. 4, from 5:30 to 8:30 PM at Freeman Funeral Home, 47 East Main Street, Freehold. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 9:30 AM at St. Veronica Church, Howell. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Lakewood.
