Obituary of Barney Anthony DiBenedetto

Barney Anthony DiBenedetto, 82, of Freehold Township, died on Thursday, August 13, 2015, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold. A lifelong resident of Freehold, he was the previous owner of Joe's Barber Shop in Freehold before retiring. He enjoyed coaching the Freehold Borough and Township Little Leagues and the Freehold Babe Ruth League. Barney was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Freehold. He was a proud U.S. Army Korean War veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 54 of Freehold. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Margaret "Peggy"; his three sons, Barney and his wife Gini, Michael and his wife Cindy, and Joe and his companion Erin, all of Freehold; his sister, Mary Cerrato of Freehold; four grandchildren, Traci, Barney, Mark and Chris; three great grandchildren, Andrew, Ava and Tyler; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Betty Bresnahan of West Palm Beach, Florida; and many nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to visit on Sunday, August 16th, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Freeman Funeral Home, 47 E Main St, Freehold. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold. Interment will follow at the parish cemetery.
