Panayis Stavrinou, 90, of Jackson, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2015. Panayis was born in Oroklini, Cyprus and lived there for 42 years before moving to New Jersey with his family in 1967. He came to America for a better life with opportunities and successes which are evident in what he has left behind- the legacy of his family. Panayis was the beloved husband of 64 years to the late Maria Stavrinou, who passed away 5 months ago. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, uncle, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his children, Vasilis and Eva Stavrinou of Lakehurst, Stephanie and Vasilis Kerzelis of Freehold, Dora & Tasos Michael of Ledgewood, Eleni and Elias Maragos of West Orange, Demetria and Pete Leventakis of Freehold and Foulla & Nick Pahountis of Lancaster, SC; 17 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren. He is also survived by 3 younger sisters, Melani of Cyprus, and Eleni & Theodoula, both of Australia; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to visit on Tuesday, August 18, from 7:00- 9:00pm at Freeman Funeral Home, 47 East Main Street, Freehold. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, 10 AM at Kimisis Tis Theotokou Church, Holmdel. Interment will follow at Old Tennent Cemetery, Manalapan. Remembrances may be made in the form desired by family and friends.
