Obituary of Salvatore A. Amato

Salvatore A. Amato passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at J.F. Kennedy Medical Center in Edison. Born and raised in Brooklyn, he had resided in Freehold for the past 18 years. He was a communicant of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, Freehold and a proud U.S. Air Force WWII veteran. Sal worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Brooklyn for over 40 years before retiring. He was best known as being "Santa's regional helper" for more than 30 years and was a lifelong New York Yankee and horse racing fan. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Mary in 2001, and his sister, Josephine Addonizio. He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Frank and Martha, Joseph, and Tina Marie and Ralph Broccoli; three siblings, Joseph, Anthony, and Ida Marrazzo; and seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Kristina, Danielle and Ryan, Maria, Lisa and Brian, Vincent, Christopher and Alessandra. Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, July 4th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and Sunday from 12:00 to 6:00 PM, at Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North, Manalapan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 AM at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Freehold. Interment will follow at Forest Green Park Cemetery, Marlboro.
