Obituary of Martin Zimnisky

Martin Zimnisky, age 77 of Jackson, NJ, passed away Friday, February 7, 2025 at Centrastate Medical Hospital in Freehold. He was born October 28, 1947 in Luzerne, PA to Michael Zimnisky and Tillie Sharkus Zimnisky.

Martin enjoyed golf, landscaping, woodcraft, movies, sports collectibles, and time with his family and friends. While attending Luzerne HS in Luzerne, PA, Martin played several sports and became a basketball star for his school. Following high school, he attended Luzerne County Community College. Martin then entered an internship at JCPenney, and would go on to a successful career managing stores in New York, Maryland, and New Jersey.

Martin is predeceased by his sister Audrey Simonovich.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years Joy Hodick Zimnisky; daughter Leigh Gunning and her husband Bryan; his sons Paul and Ross; his sister Rose Koptcho and husband George; and his sister Mary Waggoner; as well as nieces and nephews.

A memorial mass for Martin will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, February 12, 2025 in the Holy Family Parish at 574 Bennett Street in Luzerne, PA 18709.
