Obituary of John A. Budnick

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

John A. Budnick, 78, of Marlboro, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Bayshore Community Hospital. John was born in Shamokin, Pennsylvania and moved to New Jersey as a young child.    After graduating Bound Brook High School in 1965 John was selected to join the Kansas City Athletics Minor League Baseball Team.  After pitching for a year he had a shoulder injury which unfortunately ended his career in baseball.  Sports were always a part of his life so in 2000, after he retired as a machinist from Egan Machinery in Somerville, he turned his hobby of selling sports collectibles into a business. He participated in numerous fairs and festivals in Monmouth County but especially loved selling at the Monmouth Racetrack.  John loved animals, especially his two cocker spaniels, Buffy and Snoopy.  He married Kathleen D'Andrea Budnick in 1982 and their marriage was convalidated by the Catholic Church on January 10, 2023.

John was predeceased by his parents John and Genevive Budnick.  He is survived by his loving wife Kathleen Budnick and brother James Budnick.

Friends and family are invited to visit on Sunday, February 2nd , from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, at Freeman Manalapan Marlboro Funeral Home, 344 Route 9 North.  A funeral liturgy will be held at St. Gabriel's MAIN Church in Marlboro, NJ on Monday at 12:30 PM. Entombment will follow at St. Gabriel's Cemetery and Mausoleum. To leave a condolence or find directions, visit www.freemanfuneralhomes.com.
